What is Silhouette InstaLift?

As people get older, exposure to the sun, oxygen, and just the general aging process leads to less elastic, thinner skin, which, in turn, leads to wrinkles, fine lines, and sagging of the skin. Loss of tissue in the cheek area, which is one of the earlier signs of aging, contributes to the sagging, sunken look in the mid-facial area. A surgical facelift used to be the only option to treat sagging skin, but today there are quick, minimally-invasive methods to reduce skin sagging and restore a more youthful look. One such method is Silhouette InstaLift®.
What Does a Silhouette InstaLift® Procedure Involve?
Silhouette InstaLift® is used to treat the mid-facial area. It lifts and tightens the skin and tissue in the cheekbone areas, eliminating one of the first signs of aging. Special sutures and bidirectional cones are placed in multiple locations in the mid-facial area to lift and tighten the skin. The material in the sutures and cones stimulates the body to produce more collagen to retain the look naturally as they slowly dissolve. Studies have shown that by 30 days after the procedure, the cones are usually completely encapsulated by collagen. The sutures start to dissolve around 180 days after the procedure, and the cones start to dissolve around a year after the procedure.
The procedure typically takes less than an hour to complete. Using a special device, the doctor will inject the cone under the skin and place the suture to hold it in place at each marked location. No incision is made, and the suture is placed under the skin so that it is not visible. There may be some odd tugging sensations, but the procedure is not reported to be highly uncomfortable. After the Silhouette InstaLift® procedure, there may be some swelling and redness for a day or two, but patients can return to their regular activities with little to no downtime.
The cones and sutures degrade within a year of placement, but the collagen they induce to form can maintain the lifted look for multiple years at a time. The procedure can be repeated again as needed if desired.
