What Signs of Aging Can BOTOX® Treat?
October 12, 2015
Nobody can escape the aging process. It’s a natural part of life, but it can produce many unwanted changes to your appearance. Both men and women must endure the effects of aging.
The good news is that there are ways to temporarily reduce the signs of aging without having to undergo invasive surgical procedures. BOTOX® is one of the most common procedures, and many people find it to be highly effective for certain problems.
How BOTOX® Injections Work
BOTOX® injections are minimally invasive, and when compared to surgical procedures, can provide similar results. The procedure involves small needles.
When your facial muscles are being injected, it will feel like small pricks. The BOTOX® solution is injected straight into the muscle, causing the targeted muscles to relax. Many of the signs of aging are caused by facial muscles that won’t stop flexing.
The BOTOX® serum causes the muscles to relax, which almost eliminates the appearance of wrinkles entirely. Since the needles used for the procedure are very tiny, you might experience mild discomfort. The procedure shouldn’t take more than a few minutes.
The Signs of Aging Combated by BOTOX®
Studies show that BOTOX is capable of combating the most common signs of aging. Signs include thick bands on the neck, forehead creases, crows-feet around the eyes and frown lines between the eyebrows and bridge of the nose.
How Long Do Results Last?
Like most other cosmetic treatments, BOTOX® produces results that don’t last forever. The duration of results is different for everyone, but the injections should continue working from four to six months.
Fortunately, all you need to do to maintain the results is, complete additional treatments. There is no set number of times that you’re allowed to have the procedure performed. You can get as many BOTOX® treatments as you want.
What about Side Effects?
There are some side effects associated with BOTOX® injections. The good news is that the effects are minimal. The most common side effect is minor discomfort during the procedure.
Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding should not get BOTOX® injections.
