Dr. Abbed was born and raised in Danville, IL and graduated from Danville High School as valedictorian. She received her Bachelor of Science at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign with a major in biology and minor in chemistry. She graduated with honors including Dean’s List, James Scholar and Alpha Lambda Delta Honor society.
Dr. Abbed completed her medical school training at the University of Illinois College of Medicine at Rockford. She went on to complete training in General Surgery residency followed by Plastic Surgery fellowship at the University of Illinois in Chicago. Finally, she completed an ASAPS endorsed Aesthetic and Body Contouring fellowship in Charlotte, NC. She is Board Certified with the American Board of Surgery.
Throughout her training, Dr. Abbed has maintained a special interest in teaching. She has tutored all levels of education from high school, undergraduate, medical students and surgery residents. She continues to work with medical students through the University of Illinois College of Medicine in Rockford.
During her years of education, Dr. Abbed has remained actively involved in the academic field to help advance the field of medicine. She has presented at the annual meetings for American Society of Plastic Surgeons, American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons and Midwest Association of Plastic Surgeons. Dr. Abbed has many publications with topics ranging from body contouring after massive weight loss to labiaplasty to breast cancer.
Dr. Abbed’s special interests include, but are not limited to, breast cancer reconstruction, skin cancer reconstruction, post-bariatric body contouring, breast reduction, fat grafting and mommy makeovers.
